Tanzer Review: Light orange color. Rich, smoky aromas of blood orange, redcurrant and coconut complicated by subtle dried rose and hazelnut qualities. Sweeter and fresher in the mouth than the nose suggests, with a velvety texture and no rough edges to the juicy raspberry, bitter cherry and blood orange flavors. The finish leaves a trail of smoky minerals, orange peel and toasted nuts in its wake. This wine has the weight and texture of a light red wine, and should be served with richer dishes, even with red meats. Hardly your typical rose. In fact, it was aged in oak casks for four years before being bottled and was held in the cellar until being released this spring. I often wonder if this wine should be included in our pink wine reviews because it confounds just about every supposition about the category. | ||
